Do it yourself, change the air filter on your Ford Ranger, if it is the model produced in the year 2001. You will not require tools, just a new air filter, and the replacement will take less than 5 minutes of your time.
First of all, open the hood of your car and locate the air box, because you will have to remove its lid to access the filter. The air box is a black plastic box located behind the headlight, on the passenger’s side. You can detach its lid by releasing two plastic tabs that secure it, which you’ll find on the engine side of the box. One of the tabs is marked in the picture below and the second one is on the other side of the air intake hose. Lift them up and release the cover of the air box.
After you do it, you can remove the old air filter very easily (see the next picture).
Check the bottom of the air box for debris and clean everything if needed. Then install the new air filter. Make sure you buy and use a compatible filter. To finish the replacement process, reinstall the lid of the air box and secure it with the two tabs. This is all you need to know, if you wish to change the air filter on your Ford Ranger V6, produced in the year 2001.
